Gravity Wave is a social-impact, circular-economy company that removes plastics from seas and ports and recycles fishing nets into durable, long-life products. Founded in 2020 by siblings Amaia and Julen Rodríguez, the company works with a community of more than 7,000 traditional fishers across the Mediterranean (Greece, Italy, Egypt and Spain), the Cantabrian and the Atlantic. Gravity Wave reports having removed 518,000 kg of plastic, operates in 76 Spanish ports and partners with over 100 companies that sponsor monthly collection. Its product focus includes revalorizing recovered plastics and nets into items such as 100% recycled stadium seats and other circular materials. The company aims to scale the "Plastic Free Oceans" movement, expand global impact, and prevent collected plastics from returning to the water. Financially, Gravity Wave has just closed a €500,000 funding round led by Marc and Pau Gasol to accelerate growth and visibility.
