Greenease

1629 K Street NW Suite 300, Washington, DC, 20006, United States

Overview

Greenease operates a mobile app (iOS and Android) that helps diners find restaurants, cafes and grocers that buy from local and/or sustainable farms. Listings are free for locally sourcing businesses and include the farm name when restaurants have shared that information. The app organizes offerings into nine categories such as free-range, vegetarian, organic, drug-free and sustainable seafood. Greenease has partnered with FarmersWeb to integrate chef–farm ordering workflows. Beginning this fall/winter the company will offer Greenease Business software to let chefs track and update their farms and purveyors as a complimentary feature for listed businesses. The company was founded by Vanessa Ferragut, a sustainable meeting and events planner and the app’s founder and chief local food enthusiast. Financially, the company announced a $100,000 investment from Piranha Tank.
