Greener provides a consumer app that links to users' bank accounts via open banking partner Basiq to calculate the greenhouse gas emissions of spending and suggest greener purchasing options across 250+ brands. It also offers tailored solutions for businesses to assess their sustainability journey and receive personalized advice to reduce emissions and waste. In consumer trials the company helped shoppers reduce emissions of purchases by 23% and observed over 10% customer growth as shoppers switched to greener businesses. The app is currently in beta, free for consumers, and businesses fund the model at a low margin while gaining customer insights. Greener was founded in 2019 and has partnerships with brands including Microsoft, T2 Tea, Scoop Wholefoods, Brew Dog, Huskee and Go for Zero, as well as the City of Sydney and the Australian Retailer Association (ARA). The startup plans to use the new funding to continue product development and ramp to a public launch of its consumer app and Greener for Business solutions next year.
