Overview
Greentoe operates an iOS app that lets users search product categories, make price offers, and track accepted offers in a “My Offers” section. The platform currently supports home theater systems, photo gear, household appliances, musical instruments and baby products. Greentoe launched out of Y Combinator and was founded by Andrew Kurland and Joe Marrapodi, who do not have prior retail backgrounds. The company says it consistently undercuts Amazon prices by about 12%. Greentoe has raised $1 million in seed funding from a group of investors. The founders plan to expand the product selection into many more categories in the future. Greentoe operates an e-commerce marketplace that lets users make offers on a wide range of consumer goods and notifies retailers of what buyers will pay. The site covers categories including appliances, photo equipment, home theater, baby products, and music. The model has been described by the founder as a sort of "Priceline for consumer goods." Greentoe said it expects to be on a $3M a year run rate by December. The company previously landed an initial angel funding in May. Greentoe is based in Los Angeles and was founded/led by Joe Marrapodi.
