Overview
GrowUp is a purpose-led, certified B Corp vertical farming company that grows ready-to-eat salad leaves year-round using controlled-environment systems. The company operates a large Kent vertical farm powered by 100% renewable energy from a co-located bioenergy plant and conducts R&D at its Leaf Lab in Cambridge. GrowUp supplies branded bagged salads to major UK retailers including Tesco, Iceland and SPAR and sells under its Unbeleafable and Fresh Leaf Co. brands. The Kent site began as a five-acre brownfield conversion and, once fully operational, will produce 1.4 million bags of salad per week, growing 365 days a year. GrowUp has attracted over £100 million of investment to date and reports nearly 800% year-over-year sales growth, reflecting rapid commercial traction. Founded in 2013 by Kate Hofman and Tom Webster, the business emphasizes pesticide-free production, cost-competitiveness, and scaling sustainable domestic salad supply across the UK.
