Gtrot
400-410 N Michigan Ave, Chicago, 60611
Overview
Gtrot is a social travel-planning service that leverages Facebook to help users source travel plans, deals, tips, and recommendations from friends. Users can use Gtrot's Facebook app or site to see which friends have been to or live in a destination, email travel confirmations to automatically manage itineraries, and post photos and reviews. The service finds friends with intersecting plans, those who live in or have visited a destination, and lets users set alerts when friends plan trips to relevant cities. Gtrot entered beta in 2010 and has attracted nearly 6,000 users who have shared information for over 40,000 cities worldwide. The company was founded by Brittany Laughlin and Zachary Smith. It announced a new funding round from Lightbank, said the round is under $1 million, and plans to use the proceeds for further product development and expansion.
