Guard Medical

Overview
Guard Medical develops easy-to-use, cost-effective Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT) solutions and commercializes NPseal™, an all-in-one NPWT surgical dressing with an integrated pump. NPseal establishes and maintains negative pressure with just a few pinches and is positioned for prophylactic use on eligible closed surgical incisions. The company says NPseal delivers the same NPWT as more expensive and complex competitive devices while reducing cost and complexity. NPWT has been shown to reduce surgical site infections (SSI), but its use is limited by cost and complexity—issues NPseal targets. Proceeds from the $11 million Series B will fund commercialization, new clinical studies, and expansion into high-exuding and chronic wound segments. The NPseal technology originated with NewYork-Presbyterian and Weill Cornell Medicine; current investors include Bpifrance and Matignon Investissement et Gestion, and the company aims to broaden applications for infection prevention, scar mitigation, and enhanced cosmesis.
