Guardians Collective operates an app that brings together small groups of 3–5 families and pairs them with an early childhood educator to provide guided peer-to-peer learning, parenting support, and content. The company’s mission is to make early childhood educators more accessible outside of formal day cares, and it recruits both licensed and experienced community educators while balancing quality assurance against licensing barriers. It uses a subscription model with a sliding scale to keep pricing affordable; over half of its customers are classified as low income. Guardians Collective reports over 700 families using the platform in the Bay Area and users across Detroit, New Orleans, Alaska, the Navajo Nation, Oklahoma and California’s Central Valley. The startup says it has grown nationwide 16x since the start of 2020, with 94% retention and 94% of users engaging with the app on weekdays. The company has also run educator recruiting drives (called for 40 educators and received 470 applications) as part of its plan to scale expertise and community offerings.
