Verdane’s investment and partnership are intended to expand access to Guardsquare’s solutions for businesses of all sizes; completion is subject to customary regulatory approvals. Guardsquare develops premium software to protect mobile applications against reverse engineering and hacking, with commercial products including DexGuard for Android and iXGuard for iOS. The company grew out of the ProGuard open-source project and built a full-featured mobile app security suite. Its technology is embedded in an estimated 25% of Android apps and it serves more than 650 customers in over 70 countries. Guardsquare says its products are used by major banks, IT providers and credit-card companies to protect brands and revenue. The company plans to leverage new funding to more aggressively invest in sales, marketing, R&D and customer-success efforts. Guardsquare is based in Leuven and San Francisco and recently won Deloitte’s Technology Fast 50 Award as Belgium’s fastest-growing technology company.
