GuruLab is a Malaysia-based education platform that pairs highly qualified tutors with proprietary learning analytics to deliver live-streamed English tuition across the country. The company offers live-streamed English classes giving students access to some of Malaysia’s top tutors and a feedback algorithm aimed at tailoring support to individual needs. Co-founders Eer Kai Song and Vicky Tan are OxBridge graduates; Eer has a Masters in Information Engineering from Cambridge and prior experience at McKinsey, and Tan holds a Masters in Education from Oxford. The team includes graduates from top-50 universities, more than ten holders of Masters or PhDs in Education, and teachers with decades of experience. GuruLab intends to use the US$1M seed proceeds to enhance its proprietary analytics platform, expand offerings within Malaysia, and recruit tutors, software engineers, and data scientists. The company has stated ambitions to expand into other subjects and Southeast Asian markets over time.
