Overview
Gusto, formerly known as Sendgine, is building a smart, mobile-first email application that mimics Apple Mail’s familiar interface while layering in powerful discovery tools. The app places files and photos in dedicated tabs and lets users refine keyword searches by file type, account, date, read status, and other metadata. Currently limited to Gmail, near-term releases will add Yahoo and Facebook mail, followed by Aol, Outlook.com, Google Drive, Dropbox, and other cloud services, with the broader goal of giving users a unified view of all emails, files, and photos. The product soft-launched on iOS a few weeks ago and, without marketing, attracted roughly 2,500 early adopters, 25% of whom return daily. Revenue is expected to come from a freemium model once the feature set matures. The company, headquartered in Indianapolis, has rebuilt the entire codebase from scratch after pivoting away from its original secure-messaging concept.
