Gyre Energy
London, England, United Kingdom, Europe
Overview
Gyre Energy combines physics-based AI with thermal energy storage to analyse site behaviour, forecast cooling demand, and optimise cooling system operation to reduce energy use while maintaining temperature stability. The company’s platform stores cooling capacity when energy is cheaper and greener, releasing it during peak periods so equipment runs less when power costs most. Gyre was founded in 2024 by three Oxford MBAs and is deployed across the UK, Africa, and the Caribbean, with expansion underway in the Middle East, Asia Pacific, and Europe. Its next major deployment is within a chamber of a 140,000 sq ft cold chain operation, with performance measured against an IPMVP baseline. Gyre’s first published commercial deployment at a 2,900 sq ft frozen facility showed a 38% cut to electricity costs, a 35% reduction in daily energy consumption, and a payback under 1.5 years. The company is scaling into larger enterprise customers, including one of the world’s largest cold chain logistics operators, and is preparing for applications beyond cold storage such as industrial cooling and data centres as cooling demand grows.
