Overview
Gyroscope, created by founder Anand Sharma, is an app that pulls in HealthKit data and integrates with services such as Fitbit and RunKeeper to give users a unified view of where they go, what they eat, how often they exercise, and even how much time they spend online. The product has evolved from Sharma’s personal AprilZero project into a polished consumer app available in the App Store, complete with a competitive social layer for comparing metrics with friends. Recent feature additions include genetics and step-tracking components, with blood-tracking functionality to follow. A forthcoming feature called Insights will use AI to correlate user behaviors and send personalized push notifications that nudge users toward their goals. Sharma is also considering selling bundled hardware kits (e.g., a ketosis kit) and, longer-term, licensing Gyroscope’s software as the backend for third-party health devices. The company is already profitable via a paid “pro” subscription tier, giving it flexibility in choosing investors. Although exact user numbers and revenue figures were not disclosed, profitability suggests solid early traction.
