Kidswant is an emerging maternity-infant-children (MIC) specialty retailer and child growth and development service provider headquartered in Nanjing. The company operates a one-stop model for customers and targets medium- to high-income households with infants and children up to 14 years old. As of the announcement Kidswant operated nine stores across the Yangtze River Delta region and Chongqing. Founded in 2009 by a founding team that includes former senior management of Five Star Electronics, the company has received awards recognizing retail innovation and growth potential. Kidswant said it will use the US$55 million equity investment from an affiliate of Warburg Pincus to accelerate its growth plans, including expanding store counts and geographic coverage. The investment positions Kidswant to scale its specialty retail and child development services within China's MIC market.
