Hal Systems
22 The Boulevard, Ivanhoe, Victoria, 3079, Australia
Overview
HAL Systems was developed by founders Vicky and Julian Featherston to solve heating and cooling inefficiencies encountered during a renovation of their mid-century Featherston House. The company’s core product is a self-learning climate control tool that considers indoor temperature, solar radiation and energy-efficiency objectives to heat and cool commercial spaces. HAL participated in the CivVic Labs EnergyTech challenge run by LaunchVic, which the founders say helped them co-design with customers and validate their business model, customer journey and go-to-market strategy. The team projects HAL will be installed in around 1,000 buildings by 2030, delivering 260,000 MWh of total annual energy savings and equating to 1,191 metric tons of CO2 emissions saved per year. HAL has closed its first capital raise to deploy the next iteration of the tool in a series of commercial buildings. The founders emphasized cultural fit when selecting investors and have used the program connections to acquire talent and strategic partnerships.
