Calle de los Llanos de Jerez 1, Coslada, Madrid, 28823, Spain

Overview

Hamelyn is an online platform that facilitates the purchase and sale of secondhand goods. Founded in 2021 originally selling books, the company has diversified its catalog to include video games, music and movies, which now represent 15% of total sales. In 2023 Hamelyn sold more than 200,000 products to customers in 96 countries and is integrated with marketplaces such as Amazon, FNAC and eBay. The team has grown to over 30 employees in three years. To support ambitious expansion and further professionalize the secondhand market, the company completed a capital increase that brings new strategic backing. OK Ventures, the VC division of OK Group, joins as a new investor alongside existing partners. Current partners include private investors, investment funds and family offices such as Angels Capital and Secways. Hamelyn has developed an AI-driven instant-pricing system that provides immediate buyback offers for users selling used books. Users scan book barcodes with their phones, receive an instant price, get free pickup and are paid within 24–48 hours. Founded by Federico Aguilar and Valentín Izquierdo and born in Madrid less than a year before the article, the company had surpassed 20,000 orders and employed 15 people at the time of the round. Hamelyn plans to expand beyond books by adding new product categories to broaden its recommerce offering. The company closed a €1M investment round to accelerate growth in technology and operations. The product aims to reduce friction in selling goods online and foster a more efficient circular economy.
