Hamwells builds an e-shower with a recirculation mode that reuses each drop of water up to seven times, a design the company says can cut shower water use by as much as 90 percent. The startup launched its e-shower publicly at Startup Battlefield during Disrupt London 2015 and secured about 150 pre-orders after the event. Hamwells has begun shipping to those initial backers and is now accepting international orders, with Netherlands customers receiving units within two weeks and international shipments planned for the second half of 2017. The single-unit retail price is €2,890, with bulk pricing of €1,500 per unit for orders over 100. The company raised €1.2 million from a group of suppliers and angel investors to support product launch and scaling. Hamwells plans to mass-produce the e-shower, add features such as speakers, aromas, and steam, and build an app platform for the e-shower’s screen, beginning with a weather app.
