PocketGear operates a large mobile app store that sells apps for Blackberry, Android, Windows Mobile, Palm, Symbian, and Java phones. The company distributes more than 140,000 paid and free titles and bills itself as the "World's Largest Mobile App Store." PocketGear claims it has sold more than $2.5 billion worth of apps to date. The service positions itself as a one-stop shop for non‑Apple smartphone app marketplaces. PocketGear is based in Durham, NC and was acquired from Motricity by Jud Bowman, who now serves as CEO. Previous investors include Noro‑Moseley Partners and Wakefield Group.
