Handstand provides an app and website that directly connects trainers, instructors and coaches to customers and lets users book dozens of types of workout sessions (yoga, boxing, Pilates, kickboxing, etc.). Launched by Tiffany Hakimianpour, the platform vets all trainers (over 700 today) via interviews and background checks and allows users to pick trainers, schedule sessions, and choose locations—home, fitness center, or park—with trainers bringing necessary equipment. The company is available on iOS and the web and is currently operating in New York City, Boston, Los Angeles County and Orange County. Handstand has signed a partnership with Reebok that gives its trainers access to ReebokONE, Reebok’s instructor network. The company raised $1m in funding and is using the proceeds to expand operations and launch in additional cities in 2017.
