HangIt is building an open, turnkey cloud-based platform (free to app developers and publishers) to enable advanced location-based messaging and marketing inside mobile apps. The company is also developing a set of marketing products on top of the platform and deployed a prototype that is being tested in major metropolitan areas. HangIt was founded in 2014 and is headquartered in New York City. Its leadership and inventors include Cornell professor and chairman Jason Hogg (co-inventor and former founder/CEO of Revolution Money), chief architect and co-inventor Nicholas Johns, and CEO Steven Gal. The platform is being developed on a portfolio of intellectual property and was incubated at Vesta Labs in Atlanta. HangIt plans to launch the service later this year.
