Overview
毫末智行 develops autonomous driving systems and assisted-driving products, including its HPilot system which is deployed on more than 20 vehicle models and has logged nearly 140 million kilometers. The company offers three thousand-yuan-level assisted-driving models—HP170, HP370, and HP570—planned for mass production and vehicle launch in 2024. 毫末 states it has entered the autonomous-driving 3.0 era and is investing in large models, large compute, and large-data capabilities to accelerate system development. It has released a generative driving model, DriveGPT “雪湖·海若”, which the company says materially improves its development workflow and technical architecture. Management emphasizes commercialization, large-scale customer expansion, and maintaining leadership in China’s mass-production autonomous-driving market through cost-effective products. The company plans continued heavy R&D investment in perception, models, compute and data to support rapid product growth. Haomo.ai builds Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) for passenger cars and Level 4 self-driving solutions for logistics vehicles. Its ADAS has powered more than 20 vehicle models and logged about 120 million kilometers of driving, while its delivery vans have carried close to 300,000 grocery parcels. The company mainly supplies ADAS to its largest shareholder Great Wall Motor and to three other OEMs, and counts Meituan, Alibaba and JD.com as logistics clients. Steered by CEO Gu Weihao, a Baidu smart car veteran, Haomo leverages Great Wall’s OEM backing to fund R&D and commercial deployments. The firm has raised over $200 million in equity (all denominated in Chinese yuan) and is positioning robotics deployments—cleaning and security inspection robots—as part of a local-government demo in Chengdu’s Wuhou district. Haomo.AI develops the NOH (Navigation on HPilot) Level 2 autonomous driving system for passenger vehicles and low-speed unmanned Level 4 logistics vehicles. NOH currently assists drivers mainly on highways with automated steering, acceleration, and braking and is available on six Great Wall Motor models. The system has supported tens of thousands of vehicle owners to drive more than 7 million kilometers, and the company claims a leading position in mass production of autonomous driving solutions in China. Haomo plans to roll out an urban-road version of NOH by mid-2022 and an all-scenario version in the second half of 2022, and to launch the Haomo Self-Driving (HSD) fleet in 2023. The firm will use new funding for R&D and talent acquisition and has been pursuing broader mass production, shipment, and a data intelligence system called MANA. Haomo.AI develops an in-house Level 2 autonomous driving system (NOH) and produces unmanned Level 4 logistics vehicles. NOH is available on five Great Wall models (WEY Mocca, Tank 300, WEY Latte, WEY Macchiato and Haval) and has assisted users to drive more than 4 million kilometers, mainly on highways, with features such as automatic lane changing. The company expects NOH to be available in 34 vehicle models by the end of 2022 and projects over 1 million passenger vehicles will be powered by the system within three years. Haomo’s Level 4 logistics vehicles are delivering groceries for Dmall and parcels for Alibaba, and the company is a strategic production partner of Meituan to expand automatic delivery. It has built a 5,000 square-meter plant in Baoding, Hebei, which it says is the largest of its kind worldwide in production capacity. The company will use new funds to accelerate autonomous driving R&D, talent-pool building, and rollout of new products and services.
