Hargol FoodTech has developed an innovative farm system for high-quality, sustainable grasshopper protein production. Led by CEO Dror Tamir, it produces grasshopper protein powder, supplements, and meat-replacement products and is set to launch a Biblical Protein product line. The company says its grasshoppers contain more than 70% protein, all essential amino acids, and high levels of omega-3 and omega-6. In April 2020 Hargol completed a $3M financing round. Backers included existing shareholders Sirius Venture Capital and SLJ Investment Partners, and the company is a portfolio of The Trendlines Group. The funds will be used to expand production capacity, including a new production facility. Hargol FoodTech develops a sustainable protein ingredient derived from commercially farmed grasshoppers. The company has developed optimized methods and technology to grow several species of grasshoppers quickly and under sanitary conditions to provide a reliable, sustainable, and quality protein source. Its product lines will include grasshopper protein powder, food additives, and pet food. Field trials showed the product contains 72% protein, includes all essential amino acids, and has a balanced 1:1 ratio of omega-3 to omega-6. Led by CEO Dror Tamir and based in Misgav, Israel, Hargol is a portfolio company of The Trendlines Group. The company completed a $600k financing round from Sirius Venture Capital and SLJ Investment Partners to advance its product development and commercialization.
