Haystack is a mobile application that lets users build digital business cards by entering an email and auto-branding the card using a company logo found online. The app can also snap photos of physical business cards to import them, verifies the scanned cards email and attempts to pull the company logo to create a digital version. Haystack uses crowdsourcing so contacts update automatically when a card owner or trusted contact updates their information on the service, while keeping private fields like phone and email restricted unless exchanged via a physical card or sent through the app. In beta in Australia the service grew to include about 3,000 businesses and additional users, and it has since launched in the U.S., Canada and the U.K. The app is free on iOS and Android. The company plans to introduce its service to businesses where it could be used in conjunction with CRM systems and workflows.
