Health Care DataWorks builds an enterprise data warehouse called KnowledgeEdge that provides dashboards, reports and applications to help health systems aggregate patient records, billing and scheduling data for operational insights. The company plans to use the new equity investments to further product development and build infrastructure to scale the business. It was spun out of Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center by its former CIO; the underlying data model was developed over 17 years at Ohio State and was licensed to the company in 2008. Health Care DataWorks has found traction with nine health system clients, including Orlando Health, OhioHealth and Cedars‑Sinai Health System. The Columbus, Ohio–based firm employs about 65 people. Leadership highlights the product’s flexibility versus large incumbents and expects AI-powered tools to reduce administrative burdens on providers.
