Overview
HealthTell develops a diagnostic platform capable of assessing an individual’s immune system response to specific diseases and produces next-generation diagnostic tests for autoimmune diseases such as lupus. The company also operates a pharmaceutical services business to advance companion diagnostic tests for new and existing drugs. Originating from the Arizona State University Biodesign Institute, HealthTell is led by CEO Bill Colston, PhD, and was founded in 2012. It established a stable, reproducible manufacturing facility in Chandler, AZ that currently produces nearly 100,000 tests a year. HealthTell has built relationships with centers of excellence, academic institutions, and hospitals across the country. Financially, the company has raised $40M to date. HealthTell develops diagnostic tests that measure the body’s immunosignature to detect disease earlier and less invasively. The company intends to use newly raised funds to develop and commercialize tests for lung, breast, prostate and colorectal cancers. Its diagnostics technology was developed at the ASU Biodesign Institute by Dr. Stephen A. Johnston and Dr. Neal Woodbury and is licensed through Arizona Technology Enterprises. HealthTell is supplying chips for two ASU projects funded by the U.S. Department of Defense’s Defense Threat Reduction Agency. The company is based in Chandler, AZ and employs more than 20 people at the Innovations Incubator. Bill Colston is co-founder and CEO.
