HeartLab
305/150 Karangahape Road, Auckland, 1010, New Zealand
Overview
HeartLab builds Pulse, an end-to-end AI-powered platform that sorts and analyzes echocardiogram images, generates measurements and produces clinician-ready reports that can be added to patient records. The company developed an in-house labeling tool with sonographers to train and cross-validate its machine-learning models and to reduce bias and overfitting. Pulse consolidates multiple pieces of software (analysis, visualization, reporting) into a single SaaS workflow and currently is trialing with cardiologists and sonographers at four New Zealand sites. HeartLab is awaiting FDA approval and anticipates clearance by Q1 2022, after which it plans to begin selling in the U.S., initially targeting small and medium clinics. The team of 13 in Auckland plans to hire about 10 more staff using proceeds from the recent round. To-date the company has publicly raised about $3.2 million, including the seed described here.
