Overview
Heaten develops very-high-temperature industrial heat pumps, branded 'HeatBooster', designed to use industrial waste heat and electrify heat supply for heavy industries. The modular systems target megawatt-scale demand and have delivered process temperatures up to 165 °C with the current platform. The firm cites an eight-year R&D history covering heat-to-power (ORCs) and power-to-heat machines. Heaten plans to demonstrate its technology at full scale at client sites and scale MW-sized heat pumps in collaboration with AVL Schrick. Over the next few years the company aims to push operating temperatures toward 300–400 °C while prioritising commercialisation of its proven platform. The company was founded in 2020 by Harald Nes Risla and Geir Robstad. Financially, Heaten recently raised €6M to bring its first high-temperature heat pumps to industrial customers and support product commercialisation.
