Analytical Space is developing an optical small-satellite communications network to provide high-throughput, low-latency transmission services for remote sensing satellite operators. The network is intended to unlock data from space to address challenges such as increasing crop yields, monitoring climate change, and optimizing the movement of goods. The company is led by co-founders Justin Oliveira (CEO) and Dan Nevius (COO). Analytical Space raised $3.5M in seed funding to advance its development. It intends to use the funds to prepare to deploy its first pilot satellite into low Earth orbit from the International Space Station in Q1 2018. Reed Sturtevant, General Partner of The Engine, will join the company’s board as part of the financing.
