Helios, founded in 2020 by Maeva Courtois and Julia Ménayas, offers a digital banking platform that pairs everyday checking and forthcoming savings products with transparent, climate-focused investing. For a €6 monthly fee, users manage their finances via mobile or desktop while the bank guarantees that no funds are lent to polluting sectors such as oil or coal. Instead, capital is deployed into vetted environmental initiatives, and Helios discloses every investment destination to its community. In its first year, the service attracted 50,000 users and processed nearly €40 million in transactions, which it says helped avoid 20,000 tons of CO₂ and directed €1 million toward the ecological transition. The company intends to hire more than 20 team members across marketing, mobile development, and data roles. It is also preparing to launch a community-designed sustainable savings account. Management aims to grow to 100,000 customers and reach €30 million of ecological investments by the end of 2023, positioning Helios as the leading sustainable bank in Europe.
