Helpper operates a sharing-economy platform that matches elderly and people with disabilities who need assistance with local community helpers for tasks like shopping and transport. The service encourages ongoing relationships rather than one-off gigs and currently operates in Antwerp and Ghent. It has ~400 helpers and ~250 recipients on the platform. Users pay a €10 registration fee and an hourly rate of €9.80, of which helpers receive €7 per hour; Helpper’s revenue model is taking a cut of those rates. The company has partnerships with insurers Partena Ziekenfonds and OZ. Founder François Gerard launched Helpper after his father was diagnosed with ALS. The startup plans to use new funding to expand into additional cities.
