Overview
Henchman provides a platform that automatically centralizes past clauses and definitions from any legal team’s contract database and surfaces them intelligently in lawyers’ familiar Microsoft Word and Outlook environments. The company is led by Jorn Vanysacker, Gilles Mattelin, and Wouter Van Respaille and is based in Ghent, Belgium. Over the past year Henchman has experienced rapid adoption, reporting 750% revenue growth, more than 100 customers across 15 countries, and headcount growth from 12 to 35 employees. The team intends to use the new funding to further innovate the product and to expand geographically. The product focus, recent growth metrics, and leadership position the company to scale its legal automation offering in new markets. Henchman is a Belgian startup that provides a Microsoft Word add-in enabling legal experts to draft contracts faster. The product requires no setup, updates automatically, and lets customers repurpose thousands of clauses with relevant suggestions to improve efficiency and speed. Founders are Gilles Mattelin, Jorn Vanysacker and Wouter Van respaille, who bring prior experience from Intuo, Rendeevoo and PwC; Intuo was acquired by Unit4 in 2019. In less than a year Henchman has signed clients including Belgian boutique firms Monard Law and Sioen as well as Neuwerk (DE), Cleber (NL) and Avery Law (UK). The company has closed a €3 million seed round and plans to use the additional funding to support its European expansion.
