Here.fm is a web-based communication platform founded by Jesse Boyes and Seth Harris that enables users to create personal, shareable and flexible video chat rooms. The product layers customizable rooms with video chat, letting users decorate spaces with virtual items, GIFs, backgrounds, notes and pictures and arrange video windows in preferred sizes and shapes. Users can also share their screen and have used rooms for varied use cases such as product war rooms, virtual coffee shops and Pilates classes. Here launched two months ago and has seen thousands of rooms created, with the average user session lasting 41 minutes. The founders have not committed to a single business model but are considering payments processing for paid events, paywalls for room persistence and charging for premium virtual objects. The company recently closed a $2.9 million seed round to support product development and growth.
