HERKO Alternative Trucks is a Basque company aiming to position itself as a manufacturer of ECO‑DGT‑label commercial trucks focused on last‑mile urban transport. Its core product is an ecologically labeled commercial vehicle designed to reduce carbon footprint, improve user experience, and increase the low profitability of last‑mile trips. The company was formed by two industrial partners: BeGas Motor, S.L., a manufacturer of autogas and biogas engines, and Leciñena Trailer, S.L., a firm with over 50 years in trailers and semitrailers. In a first phase HERKO will homologate the vehicle and produce 30 pre‑series units to validate applications with leading customers in the sector. HERKO’s strategy responds to the need to renew an aging, highly polluting fleet in the exponentially growing last‑mile segment. The company secured investment agreements involving CDTI (via its Innvierte program), EASO VENTURES II SCR, S.A., and FULL GLOBAL INVESTMENTS SCR, S.A., with CDTI committing €900,000.
