Overview
HexemBio develops regenerative therapies aimed at rejuvenating aging hematopoietic stem cells by recreating the developmental environment (the Synthetic Human Yolk Sac) where those cells initially arise. The company aims to restore patients' own stem cell regenerative capacity to improve bone marrow transplantation outcomes and explore approaches to extend human healthspan. HexemBio received FDA Orphan Drug Designation in July 2025 and completed an FDA Pre-IND meeting in January 2026, and is targeting first-in-human trials in 2027. It plans to use recent seed funding to finalize IND-enabling studies and establish GMP manufacturing. Founded in 2024, HexemBio operates from Berkeley and New York City and is led by CEO Gabriel Levesque Tremblay. Its advisory board includes prominent figures such as Robert S. Langer, Peter Barton Hutt, Joanne Kurtzberg, Felipe Sierra, Jens Nielsen, David Harris, and George Church.
