Heyday

8583 Irvine Center Dr #259, Irvine, CA, 92618, USA

Overview

Heyday is a journaling app that automatically creates a holistic record of your life using data on your iPhone, primarily location and the camera roll. At launch it pulls existing photos (allowing the app to infer activity from before installation) and founder Siqi Chen says he plans to add other data sources and ultimately build the ultimate artifact and story of your life. The app focuses less on continuous location tracking than competitors like Rove and Saga, only recording where you are when not in transit, which also conserves battery. Heyday surfaces photos and events automatically but lets users delete unwanted entries, and it includes no built-in social feed—users may share individual updates to Facebook, Twitter, or email. After launch the company accidentally exposed waiting-list email addresses by failing to BCC; it said no accounts were compromised and pledged a two-person rule for future newsletter sends. The startup has raised $2 million in funding from Google Ventures, Spark Capital, CrunchFund, SV Angel, and others.
