HeYuan Bio (和元生物) was founded in 2013 and is registered in Shanghai with registered capital of RMB 145 million. The company focuses on gene therapy recombinant viral R&D and production, cell and gene therapy CDMO services, and life-science research support. It has positioned itself as a domestic leader in the gene- and cell-therapy CDMO niche after several years of industry experience. HeYuan has begun construction in Lingang of an approximately 80,000 sqm precision-medicine manufacturing base to provide clinical-grade viral-vector industrial production and to support global clinical filings for Chinese developers. Management says the company will accelerate a global expansion strategy to become a global recombinant-virus CRO and gene-drug CDMO/CMO hub. Financially, the company announced a C round of over RMB 300 million and adviser 易凯资本 helped the company complete more than RMB 600 million in equity financings within six months, including the Pre-C round announced in July 2020.
