HighLine Technology GmbH is a Fraunhofer ISE spin-off that develops high-precision parallel dispensing print heads with a current focus on metallization for solar cells. Its parallel dispensing technology enables one-pass metallization, improves homogeneity of contact fingers, reduces shadowing losses and cuts silver usage by more than 20%. The company reports a current printing speed of 500 mm/s (LT paste for HJT) and has built a demonstrator in the PV-TEC laboratory of Fraunhofer ISE. For rapid market entry HighLine developed a ‘cuckoo’ integration solution to fit existing industrial screen-printing platforms, and planned field tests in 2021 with industrial partners. HighLine has been operational since the beginning of 2020 and employs 13 people, using Fraunhofer ISE lab facilities for development. Financially, the company completed a seed financing round of €1.2 million and previously received pre-seed support from EXIST Forschungstransfer, FTTF and L-Bank BW.
