HIL Applied Medical is developing an ultra-compact class of proton therapy systems using a patented approach that combines nanotechnology, high-intensity lasers and ultra-fast magnets. The company’s core product is a laser-based proton accelerator intended to reduce the size and cost of proton therapy systems while preserving clinical utility. HIL is in R&D mode and the company says commercialization is still several years away. It has an OEM collaboration with IBA to enable integration of HIL’s accelerators into proton therapy solutions. HIL is privately funded by the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Israel’s Office of the Chief Scientist and private investors and is headquartered in Jerusalem.
