Hip eCommerce operates vertical marketplaces for collectibles — including HipStamp, HipComic and HipPostcard — and builds category-specific features and tools for buyers and sellers. Launched in 2016 and based in Austin, Texas, the company has developed product innovations such as Comic Book Image Recognition that enables sellers to list comics four times faster from a single image. Today Hip eCommerce reports over $18 million in annualized GMV, more than 1,500 sellers, 150,000 members and roughly 10 million listings. The company says its vertical approach targets underserved collectible categories and aims to digitize large offline inventory. With the new funding it plans to augment business, marketing, product and engineering efforts and accelerate its product roadmap to add more features for buyers and sellers.
