Founded in 2017 by Claire and James Fuller, Hnry offers a platform that automatically handles invoicing, tax calculations, payments and compliance for sole traders so they can focus on their core work. The Wellington-based company operates in New Zealand, Australia and, as of this year, the United Kingdom. Hnry now processes nearly 1 percent of New Zealand’s total tax take, indicating deep local penetration. Its Australian market share has grown seven-fold since 2020, while its newly launched UK business is expanding six times faster than the combined Australasian markets. To date the firm has raised close to $100 million and plans to use new capital to accelerate international expansion and product development. Hnry’s value proposition centres on eliminating administrative burden for sole traders, a segment that seeks simplicity over traditional accounting software.
