Overview
Holoway develops a proprietary digital holography measurement technology that captures wavefront data on an image sensor and computationally reconstructs object surface information at nanometer precision. Its system enables large-area, one-shot measurements that the company says exceed the capabilities of conventional interferometers and electron microscopes. Demonstrated applications include single-shot thickness-distribution measurement of several-hundred-mm SiC wafers at ~1 nm order, flatness measurement of large Si wafers, and high-speed, depth-resolved observation of microorganisms in liquid. The company was formed with support from JST’s START program as a Hyogo Prefectural University spinout and was established in April 2023, based in Kobe. Holoway reports growing inbound interest from players in space and semiconductor industries and plans to accelerate product development and organizational strengthening. Financially, the company has raised a total of over ¥150M to date (including long-term loans and grants) following its recent seed round.
