Homium is a Los Angeles, CA–based home equity mortgage lender and provider of a securitization platform. It uses patented technology to monetize and securitize owner-occupied home equity at scale, leveraging capital markets through a product the company says puts homeowners’ interests first. Homium enables homeowners to take out an on-title second mortgage in the form of a shared appreciation mortgage loan, which it pools with other loans into an investment vehicle to offer a tokenized security to investors. The company has its first loans live in Colorado and aims to expand the platform to several other states. Homium raised $10M in a Series A led by Sorenson Impact Group and Blizzard, the Avalanche Ecosystem Fund, and intends to use the funds to expand operations and development efforts.
