Overview
Hopae develops decentralized identity (DID) technology and open-source components for digital wallets that enable governments and institutions to issue reusable, privacy-preserving digital IDs and credentials. Its DCX architecture leverages blockchain to ensure security and integrity while prioritizing user control over personal data. The company focuses on both public-sector uses and private-sector identity verification, including age verification. Hopae plans to establish a U.S. headquarters, expand across Europe, solidify strategic partnerships, and hire across its Seoul and Paris offices. Financially, Hopae raised $6.5M in a round that included equity and debt financing. During COVID-19 the founders built the national vaccination pass that was used by 43 million users daily. The product roadmap is aligned with new EU regulation aiming for widespread single digital identity adoption. Hopae builds digital identity authentication infrastructure using blockchain, offering products that monitor login behavior and manage identities. Its Furo LADS service detects and responds to anomalous login behavior in real time, while Furo IAM manages and authenticates users' digital identities. The company reports its solutions are used in over 560 projects and manage about 120,000 users. Hopae has won the AWS SaaS Accelerator Program and received awards at Korea Internet & Security Agency events and a Shinhan Financial Group open innovation program. Since February last year it joined the Open Wallet Foundation as the first Asian founding member and engages in active open-source work with organizations including Google and Microsoft. CEO Shim Jae-hoon, who led development of the COOV vaccine-certification platform used by over 43 million people, says the company's goal is to create a global identity system usable anywhere.
