HorseCom
Paris, Ile-de-France, France
Overview
HorseCom is a Paris-based company that designs Bluetooth technologies including a rider earpiece, a cap with a Bluetooth receiver, horse earphones, and a mobile application to enhance the horse–rider relationship. Its technology is patented and was developed in collaboration with ethologists and research institutes including the University of Caen's Memory and Behavioural Plasticity Group (GMPC), the Pluridisciplinary Institute Hubert Curien (IPHC), CNRS and the University of Strasbourg. The kit has been tested by instructors and competition riders and is intended to create greater harmony by tailoring music to equine sensibilities and partially insulating horses from external noises. Reported benefits include reducing stress during veterinary or farrier treatments, facilitating speed work, and allowing a coach to speak to a pupil and horse via phone. HorseCom completed an initial €1 million seed fund-raising round from Quadrivium 1 (managed by Seventure Partners), which the company says will finance marketing of its first product. The firm plans to roll out marketing in France and abroad, develop new technology modules, and introduce novel teaching resources for instructors. The company positions itself to address a large and growing equine market cited at €7.35 billion per year, with 50 million regular riders worldwide and 5% annual growth in Europe.
