HouseParty.com helps people throw brand-sponsored home parties by having hosts apply online, describe the event they plan, and take charge of inviting friends and relatives. Selected hosts receive Party Packs from sponsoring brands — examples include food, baby toys, health and beauty products, and action figures. The platform also lets users shop for party supplies on HouseParty.com. Its business model is designed to give brands relatively inexpensive word-of-mouth marketing through real-life gatherings in exchange for free products. HouseParty.com raised $5.3 million in Series C funding led by New York-based Acadia Woods Partners and has raised about $8 million to date.
