HUALALA
Xihuan Plaza, Beijing, China
Overview
Hualala (parent: Beijing Duolaidian Information Technology Co., Ltd.) provides restaurant SaaS tools including scan-to-order, cashiers/POS, membership and basic marketing. The company says it has signed over 400,000 merchant customers, with chain customers accounting for 82%, and its served merchants’ annual transaction volume exceeds RMB700 billion; in 2021 its market share approached 15% and it serves more than half of China’s top-100 restaurant brands. Hualala reported strong early‑year operational growth: online groups and stores rose more than 10% year‑over‑year for Jan–Apr, with April new stores up 49% month‑on‑month and new groups up 25%; active online stores remain well over 200,000. The company completed an A round of financing of RMB1.65 billion in 2020 (investors included Hillhouse, Meituan, Shenzhen Capital, Zhongding and Chuangdongfang) and says it has signed framework agreements totalling more than RMB1 billion as it seeks new funding. However, Hualala has faced serious liquidity and personnel issues since late 2022, including merchant withdrawal delays, layoffs, wage-arrears complaints and multiple labor disputes, and hundreds of public complaints about delayed withdrawals. The firm says it retained a team of over 1,000 after restructuring (website lists ~2,600 staff), and it is actively pursuing new financing to address cash constraints and resume growth.
