Hubtype offers a developer-focused platform and an open-source framework, Botonic (based on React.js), to build and scale conversational messaging experiences across multiple channels. Its product supports richer interactions beyond basic chatbots by combining conversational UIs, GUI elements, AI/NLP, decision trees, webviews, human handoffs, and multichannel integrations. The company targets enterprise customers in banking, insurance and e-commerce/retail and says eight of more than 20 customers are in the Forbes Global 2000, including Volkswagen, Inditex, HP and Bankia. Hubtype is Barcelona-based and plans to tilt fully toward developers over the long term while growing its B2B footprint. The company raised a €1M (~$1.1M) seed round and previously took €235,000 in public and angel funding at founding in February 2016. It plans to use the seed funding to build out a developer relationship program, invest in product development (including AI capabilities to enable automatic rollouts in about 100 languages), and scale its sales team. Hubtype expects to reach 100 customers this year and notes a focus on the EU and emerging WhatsApp-prevalent markets, where it is one of the few official WhatsApp solution providers.
