Huddly makes an intelligent wide-angle GO camera that embeds on-board computer vision to improve video meetings and exposes multiple video streams via an API for features like auto-crop and content capture. The GO ships for $499 through resellers (and will be sold directly) and is the first Huddly camera available for direct purchase after previously being part of Google’s Hangouts Meet kits. The company is Norway-based and currently has about 45 employees. Huddly is designing additional on-camera processing (including a Movidius Myriad 2 in the GO) and plans two further hardware generations, with a third generation described as more like an IoT device. The firm intends to double its engineering team with the new funding and to expand beyond video conferencing over time. Management expects the business to be profitable in 2019. Longer term, Huddly is building computer-vision and machine-learning capabilities on top of its camera to analyze room state, count people, measure engagement and surface meeting analytics to managers. Financially, the company has raised $10M in a Series B, bringing total funding to $20M, not including a $3M research grant.
