Hulbee builds semantic search technology and has launched a pro-privacy consumer search engine positioned as an alternative to mainstream engines. Its consumer product emphasizes non-tracking search, a clean interface and a word-cloud feature to refine results. Hulbee runs its own non-tracking ad system that targets ads based on the search query rather than cumulative user profiling, and includes filters for violent and pornographic content. The company has 15 years of experience selling enterprise-grade search and analytics in Europe and launched Swisscows.ch in June 2014 before moving into the U.S. in August. It reports Hulbee.com processes more than eight million queries monthly and Swisscows.ch processes more than five million queries monthly. The firm plans to use recent funding to expand the consumer search business and to roll out new enterprise search products for SMBs and larger competitors in the coming months.
