Overview
Humanity is a health‑tech company offering an app designed to extend users' healthspan by tracking key biomarkers and calculating biological age and rate of aging. The app uses smartphone and wearable sensors to monitor heart rate, step rate, activities and sleep and applies machine learning models validated against real‑world outcomes with benchmarks from longitudinal biobanks such as the UK Biobank. Users receive an H Score across four categories—mind, movement, recovery, and nutrition—and actionable notifications to improve those metrics. Humanity released a beta last year that reached the TestFlight user limit and now has tens of thousands on its waiting list; the app went live on the App Store at the start of August. Prior to that release the company raised about £3.4 million (roughly $4.6 million) from a syndicate of some 65 investors, founders and VC firms. Its science advisory board includes noted figures such as Kristen Fortney, George Church and Aubrey de Grey. Humanity is building a consumer-facing product that aims to show users their “actual rate of aging” so they can see which actions are effective at slowing or reversing aging. The company plans to combine digital and biomedical biomarkers into a consumer app slated to launch next year. Humanity is testing an Alpha product on several hundred users and says there are “thousands” waiting for early access. Founders Peter Ward (founder of WAYN) and Michael Geer (formerly of Badoo) lead the company. Its Science Advisory Board includes George Church and Aubrey de Grey. The app is planned to launch in the U.K. and U.S. in early 2021, followed by a global rollout in 2022.
